Leech was a Professor of Linguistics and Modern English at the Lancaster University and later became a Research Professor in Linguistics. He is Emeritus Professor of Linguistics at Lancaster University. Jan Svartvik is a Scandinavian scholar of English language and a Professor at the University of Lund, Sweden. He has published several papers on English language and grammar and is a member of prestigious institutions like The Royal Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, and The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Sidney Greenbaum is a professor of the English Language and Literature at University College London. He also served as the Director of the Survey of English Usage.
