The book attempts to provide the history of development of computer in stages, the structure of computer, the C language in detail in a simple and informative style and discusses various features of C languages systematically.It discusses a clear demonstration of operators, control flow, arrays, functions, strings, structures, union and bitfields, pointer and console-file.A large number of useful well-developed problems, about 166 in number have been presented at various locations to show various features of the language. A chapter which deals with number system which are very important to know basics of computer system.A large number of probable questions in each chapter will help the reader to build up his/her confidence on C. The presentation of large number of objective type questions with answer will help to test the knowledge on C.The book also contains all the DOS and UNIX commands with their use in advanced programming. He has worked as a Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and department of Mathematics in Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. After superannuating Prof. S. Dey worked as Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and MCA at Academy of Technology, Adisaptagram, Dist. Hooghly in West Bengal and Head of the department of computer science & Engineering and Director at Bengal Institute of Technology& Management, Santiniketan, West Bengal. He was the H.O.D of computer science & Engineering at Supreme Knowledge Foundation Group of Institutions in its initial stage and presently working as Professor of mathematics at Supreme Knowledge Foundation Group of Institutions of mathematics (Mankundu, Hooghly),Prof. S. Dey is a well known Research Scientist in Theoretical Seismology in the National and International level and has guided 25 research scholars for Ph. D award and has 150 publication in International journal of repute.Prof. S. Dey is recipient of five awards including National Mineral Award (Govt. of India) and Michel Madhusudan Award in science and technology (west Bengal).Prof. S. Dey was also a reputed teachers in Ranchi University and Birla Institue of Technlogy, Mesra(Ranchi). He is the author of four books in computer science, graph theory, numerical methods and MATLAB.Mr. Mridul Ghosh, B.Tech and M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Calcutta has wide teaching and practical experience in C programming. He was a faculty member of Seacom Engineering College, Howrah and worked as Head of the Department in Computer Science & Engineering. Presently he is working as a faculty member in Supreme Knowledge Foundation Group of Institutions, Hooghly in West Bengal.He is UGC NET qualified in computer science and applications. He is pursuing Ph.D from Jadavpur University. His area of research interest is image processing and pattern recognition. He has published many papers in international Journals.
