To begin the description of the fourteenth edition of "Concepts of Physical Chemistry", We express our pleasure for the warm welcome, wide and favorable reception of the previous editions, and thanks to our learned teachers and students for the many helpful and constructive suggestions. This has provided the author an opportunity to considerably modify and revise the book in the present edition. Accordingly, numerous changes have been made to further improve the clarity, readability, and understanding of the text therein. In addition, some new discussions, questions have been added, including the ten self-assessment model papers based on the new pattern of JEE.The original purpose of the text is to guide students in the basic concepts of physical chemistry so that they become familiar with conceptual aspects and can read, understand, study, and enjoy the subject to develop the best strategy for solving problems.Many students find difficulty in computational problems. As an experienced teacher, the author understands their feelings and therefore the numerous illustrative problems are set up systematically with carefully detailed solutions, explained in a step-by-step fashion. Attempts have been made to introduce problems with a view that conceptual material should illuminate factual aspects and not eliminate them. The level of problems has gradually increased avoiding jumps and accumulation of similar problems.
