About the Book:Contemporary Indian Women?s Writing has moved away from the confines of domesticity to engage with the historical, political, cultural and economic dimensions of the public space. A distinctive body of such writing is engaged with issues of caste, religion, ethnicity, sexuality, ecology and gendered violence. Through their writings these women writers effectively unveil the imbrications of race, ethnicity and gender evident in the dynamic postcolonial locus today and reveal that race, ethnicity, gender and class are interconnected, interdetermining historical processes rather than separate systems. This volume, containing eighteen stimulating articles, is a scholarly endeavour to offer valuable reflections on the theoretical/ conceptual and creative aspects of contemporary Indian women?s writing in English impacted by different material and ideological spheres of life in recent times. It is hoped that this anthology will not only be of great use to scholars and general readers, but will also inspire many to undertake fresh studies on the subject.
