Contemporary Literary and Cultural Theory: From Structuralism to Ecocriticism is a book especially for students of English literature, and will also be useful for the interdisciplinary interests of students of mass communication, history, sociology, and gender studies. The book is a comprehensive survey of the major theoretical schools that have contributed in shaping our ideas about the literary and cultural phenomena since the mid-twentieth century. Its contents include Structuralism, Poststructuralism and Deconstruction, Psychoanalytic Criticism, Feminism, Marxism, Postcolonial Theory, Queer Theory, New Historicism and Cultural Materialism, Critical Race Studies and Ecocriticism. Pramod K. Nayar’s most recent publications include English Writing and India, 1600-1920: Colonizing Aesthetics, and The Trial Of Bahadur Shah Zafar.
