A graduate of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel, Dr. Horstmann completed his M.S. in computer science from Syracuse University and went on to obtain his Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Gary Cornell is an American computer scientist, a professor and a program director at the National Science Foundation. Dr. Cornell completed his Ph.D. in mathematics from Brown University and has served as a visiting scientist at IBM's Watson Labs.
