For a positive change in the society and sustained economic growth education plays a pivotal role. Expenditure on education is now viewed as investment expenditure as it brings in economic returns to the individuals as well as to the society. Financing of education has, thus, emerged as an important area of concern for researchers and economists. The present book examines the growth of higher education in Mizoram and the trend of public expenditure on it. More emphatically, it deals with the estimation of per unit public cost and private cost of higher education in the state along with an analysis of the various sources of finance for education. Determination of optimum enrolment size in various types of higher educational institutions has also been tried.
