Counselling And Guidance is an introduction to the philosophy and principles of counselling and guidance. It covers many areas about humans and human behavior. It is an enlarged edition that discusses the counselling process and its theories, without subjecting the reader to polemics. Summary Of The Book This edition of Counselling And Guidance is the extensive, revised and updated edition, and contains the philosophy and principles of earlier editions as well. This book gives a complete and thorough guidance for a postgraduate student of psychology and education. It is a great help to the practicing counsellors, psychiatrists, and social workers. Counselling And Guidance covers many new chapters on counselling for marriage and family. The other two new chapters included are Counselling in Educational Setting and Career Guidance and Counselling. Some of the other chapters present in the book are Counselling for Legal Offenders and Juvenile Delinquents, Minorities and Weaker Class, Alcoholics, Victims of Abuse and Violence, Drug Addicts, and Crisis Intervention Strategies. A new segment on Mental Health and Counselling Across Human Lifespan is also covered here. The initial part of the book covers the Introduction to Counselling and Guidance with topics like Emergence of this subject, its nature, related fields and scope. The second part completely covers the Counselling Process and its Techniques. The psychological testing, diagnosis, approaches to counselling, the counseling interview, the trends in counseling, special areas in counseling, and its evaluation are covered in the later parts of Counselling And Guidance. About The Authors Former Professor, Chairman and Principal of Sri Venkateswara University College, Tirupati, Late S. Narayana Rao has taught the students in this University for more than 35 years. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Minnesota (USA). He has received awards such as the Best Book Published from the Swami Paramananda Psychology Trust and the Distinguished Teacher Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He has written nearly 15 research papers and two textbooks in the subjects of Counselling and Educational Psychology. He was associated with several professional organizations and worked as the Secretary of the Indian Psychological Association, as the Executive Secretary at the Centre for Studies in Human and Social Development, and as the President of Indian Academy of Applied Psychology. He has a Ph.D in Educational Psychology and Counselling. Prem Sahajpal is a Professor and Counsellor. Another book by her is Social Psychology. She completed her Ph.D from the University of Delhi in Social Psychology. She was a faculty member of Indraprastha College. She has also supervised research projects, published research papers and contributed to two text books. Currently, she is with NCERT and NIPCCD as a resource person and guest faculty. She is an active member of SAHAN, Muskan, and is a Counsellor at OSTOMY Society.
