Published in the year 2010, Critical Chain is a book that revolves around the Critical Chain theory of Project Management, and is loaded with several real-world applications of this theory. Summary Of The Book Critical Chain is a book that throws light on the Critical Chain theory of Project Management. This book is not a typical project-manager’s guide, but it is actually written in the form of a novel, which revolves around a professor. He tries his best to land a tenure with a business school at a university. Critical Chain comes loaded with a number of real-world examples, which help to keep the readers engrossed throughout. This book is written in a way that even those who have no prior knowledge of project management can easily understand the subject. Goldratt starts off by highlighting the major issues faced with time estimates when it comes to project management. Following that, he explains the Theory of Constraints, along with an example of how it can be applied to a steel mill. After making his point clear, with this example, Goldratt moves on to show the readers how this project management method can be applied to handle resources constraints, multiple projects, and generating schedules. He also delves on the present-day education system, citing that it has done more harm than good to students. This book is ideal for product managers, operations manager, marketing personnel, and project managers. About Eliyahu M. Goldratt Eliyahu M. Goldratt was an author, physicist, and management guru. Goldratt also wrote Late Night Discussions on the Theory of Constraints, Necessary But Not Sufficient, and The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement. Goldratt was born on 31st March, 1947, in Mandatory Palestine. He finished his undergraduate degree of science from Tel Aviv University and earned his postgraduate and doctoral degrees from Bar-Ilan University. He founded the Optimized Production Technique, the Thinking Processes, Critical Chain Project Management, the Theory of Constraints, and other derived TOC tools. Goldratt was the founder of Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute. He passed away on 11th June, 2011.
