Crotchet Castle is a fresh and jovial satire, droll rather than controversial. There is a nouveau riche merchant trying to furnish his social status by converting his house, grandly named Crotchet Castle, into a salon for intellectual people. Guests are welcomed there, presented a series of breakfasts, dinners and travels, and during that they argue over different ideological views and try to promote one's own idea while demeaning others'.
