Balsam is a medium-tall, rainy season annual that is grown for its beautiful flowers. The flowers are long lasting on the plant and are quickly replaced by new flowers.Balsam is one of the few flowers, planted from flower seeds, that can do well in sun or shade as long as it has plenty of moisture.Growing Requirements:The plant is susceptible to the following pests and diseases- Powdery mildew, Leaf miners, Oedema, Parasitic nematodes, Spider mites, Flower thrips, Root knot nematode, Whiteflies, Aphids, Impatiens necrotic spot virus, Fungal leaf spots, Rhizoctonia stem rot. These pests and diseases may leave the plant leaves affected or can eat the leaf tissues of the plant. Infected leaves become covered with a white to gray powdery growth.
