Henry James’ Daisy Miller is an outstanding portrayal of a girl, Daisy, who falls prey to a conflict between two different cultures. American-born Daisy’s naivety and lack of concern for social convention  get misinterpreted when she visits Europe with her mother, which results in her being ostracized and vilified by a society to which she is an anathema. About the Author Henry James, American novelist, short-story writer, playwright, critic and essayist was born in New York. His first novel Watch and Ward appeared in 1871. He wrote the novel Daisy Miller in 1879.
