About The Author: Henry Stanley Newman (1837-1912) was a grocer, Quaker philanthropist, and author known for his contributions to social welfare and religious work. Newman attended Bootham School in York, where he befriended other Quaker students. In 1891, Newman became the editor of The Friend publication, where he shared his knowledge and beliefs on education, mission work, and Quaker principles. His published works cover topics such as foreign missions, the history of Leominster, and Quaker beliefs.
