Sookie is desperate to find out what her lover, Eric Northman, has been planning. However, he is determined to keep her in the dark about it. She soon realizes that what he is planning is something worse that she had ever imagined. Summary of the Book Sookie has just witnessed the firebombing of Merlotte’s, the bar she works in. Everyone is suspicious of the anti-shifters in the area as Sam Merlotte is known to be two-faced. Sookie, however, does not agree with what everyone thinks. She starts to investigate on her own, but before she can, something more dangerous comes up. Eric Northman and Pam are plotting something and it is kept secret. Even though they are in a relationship, Eric will not reveal the secret to Sookie. Sookie insists on knowing what is going on as she refuses to be calm when her work and love life are under threat.
