Death and Dying is a book on the psychology of death, edited by the leading psychoanalyst Sudhir Kakar. Summary of the Book Death is an omnipresent force in our lives. Where there is life, there will be more death. Men have fought to kill, others have fought to keep death away. Despite the copious attention devoted to its study, no one knows what happens after death. What becomes of the subconsciousness? Scientists, alchemists, philosophers and would-be magicians have hankered over the answer to that question over the millennia, but there has never been an answer. In this book, readers are introduced to several essays and writings by leading scholars and intellectuals on the idea of death and the afterlife. It shows readers how death was perceived by people such as Carl Jung, Albert Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore. These essays delve into the most sincere of all human emotions: the awe and curiosity about death, the only constant undying facet of life.
