This is the story of Willy Loman, a salesman who is a failure in his business and his private life. Summary of the Book Willy has not been in a very good state of mind after a recent car accident. His wife thinks that he needs to rest and work from his home town. He goes to his boss and asks him if he can find a job that will allow him to work from town, but he is not successful. This angers Willy and he is fired from his job. His boss has told him that he needs to rest and cannot represent the company. Biff is Willy’s son and is searching for a job that will make his father proud of him. Willy hopes that his son will run a big business, even though Biff has told him that he is not meant for success. However, Willy is obsessed by with the idea and refuses to listen to Biff. Their conversations always end up in arguments and Willy starts to have flashbacks of the past. He remembers how his son distanced himself from him when he caught Willy having an extra marital affair. All of this humiliation is too much to bear for Willy. All he wants is for his son to start a business, even if it is with the money that comes from his life insurance. About Arthur Miller Arthur Miller was an American playwright, essayist, and a prominent figure in the twentieth century. Some of the plays that he has written are: All My Sons, Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, and A View from the Bridge. He has also written the screenplay for the film The Misfits.
