In Death On The Nile, Hercule Poirot finds himself in the midst of another impossible crime and this time, it is while he is holidaying in Africa. Summary Of The Book Death On The Nile by Agatha Christie deals with the eccentric but brilliant Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot and his encounter with murder while on a cruise in Africa. A keen observer, Poirot, spots a young couple, Jacqueline de Bellefort or Jackie and her fiancé, Simon Doyle, one evening in London. However, things are not as happy as it seems for the young couple. As the novel progresses, Doyle is seen engaged to the rich heiress, Linnet Ridgeway. While on their honeymoon cruise to Egypt, Poirot finds himself caught up in the drama between this newly married couple and the scorned lover, Jackie. As the novel progresses, Jackie obsessively stalks the Doyles and a series of unfortunate accidents occur that almost kills Linnet. Poirot tries to warn the young couple against Jackie’s murderous obsession to gain Simon back, but the warning comes too late as Linnet is found dead one night on the boat. The detective sets out to find out the real perpetrator. While all the clues point to Simon and Jackie, both have solid alibis, making it almost impossible for Poirot to crack the case.
