"The National Archives of India (ested. 1891) is the apex repository of public records of the Union Government of India. It includes in its collection a significant amount of Persian Correspondence exchanged between the Governor-General of India with the Native Chiefs and Rulers, and foreign potentates covering the period from 1759 to 1882. Considering the importance of these unique primary sources of history for the study of eighteenth and nineteenth century India, National Archives of India has published several reference volumes of these priceless epistolary treasures. So far eleven volumes of Calendar of Persian Correspondence covering 1759 to 1795 and four volumes of Descriptive List of Persian Correspondence covering 1801 to 1804 have been published. The present volume which is fifth in the series of Descriptive List of Persian Correspondence contains 1275 rare and unpublished letters exchanged in the year 1805.
