Published in the year 2009, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (With CD) is a novel that revolves around the adventures and mishaps during Greg’s summer holidays. Summary Of The Book The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series revolves around a 13 year old named Greg Heffley, who constantly gets bullied by his elder brother, while his younger brother harasses him and gets away with it, as always. Greg is a weird kid, who finds it extremely difficult to attract female attention, while his friend, Rowley, is a ladies’ man. Even after repeated attempts to become popular, Greg faces nothing but failure. This fourth novel in the series starts off with Greg deciding to remain home all summer, as he knows that whatever he does will land him in a mess. Greg and Rowley visit Rowley’s country club, but it was no sooner that Greg is kicked out. His family also cancelled their trip to the beach, as they didn’t have enough cash. They then decide to visit a town pool, however, Greg dislikes the sight of hairy men in the open showers. After being kicked out of Rowley’s country club, Rowley’s dad comes over to Greg’s house and makes him pay up for the smoothies he ordered there. To pay off the money to Mr. Jefferson, Greg decides to start his own lawn care business, which ends up badly, as he and Rowley haven’t even used a lawn mower before. Greg’s birthday arrives and the money due to him, is given to Rowley’s father to pay off the smoothie bill. He also gets a cell phone called the Ladybug, which can only be used for making emergency calls and home ones. He then gets a pet angelfish, which is eaten up by the piranha his mom accidently places his pet fish’s tank. Greg then zaps Rowley by making use of static electricity at a hotel, and this is followed by a series of events that will keep the readers glued to the very end. Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (With CD) has also been adapted into a movie by the same name, which was released in 2012.
