Digital Communication is a reference book in its fifth revised edition. It has been revised to reflect all the current trends in the digital communications field. It is an all-inclusive guide and covers topics from introduction of digital communication systems to the analysis of the same. The book includes new topics on Carrier and Symbol Synchronization, Deterministic and Random Signal Analysis, Adaptive Equalization, Spread Spectrum Signals for Digital Communications, Fading Channels I: Characterization and Signaling, Error Probability for Multi-channel Binary Signals, Antenna Arrays, Square Root Factorization Reference, and Linear Block Codes. Dr. John Proakis holds a PhD in Engineering from Harvard University, and is currently a Research Professor at Northeastern University. He is the author of the book Digital Communications and co-author of the books, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Signal Processing Laboratory, Advanced Digital Signal Processing, Digital Processing of Speech Signals and Communication Systems Engineering. He worked in GTE Laboratories and the MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Proakis was a professor at Northeastern University from 1969 to 1998. His professional experience and interests are in the general areas of digital communications and digital signal processing.
