Digital Image Processing is a comprehensive book for computer science professionals working with image processing technology. Gonzalez is Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) where he has been working for over 40 years. The founder of Image & Pattern Analysis Laboratory and the Robotics & Computer Vision Laboratory at UTK, he founded Perceptics Corporation which has since gone on to become one of the leading image processing, computer vision, and laser disk storage companies in the world. Richard E. Woods is a founder of Perceptics Corporation, developing many of the quantitative image analysis and autonomous decision making products. He has also served as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UTK and a computer applications engineer at Union Carbide Corporation.
