The aromatic wood is harvested from naturally fallen trees; this sustainable practice protects living trees and prevents deforestation. The guru bead (tasseled bead) is made from Tagua, a nut that comes from the genus of trees, Phytelephas, and is commonly referred to as "vegetable ivory."
