It is the story of young Frank Fowler, who is orphaned at a young age and must fend for himself. Frank is a hard-working and honest boy, and he eventually finds a job as a clerk in a store. One day, Frank witnesses a robbery and helps to apprehend the robbers. This act of bravery brings him to the attention of Mr. Randolph, a wealthy merchant. Mr. Randolph is impressed by Frank's honesty and courage, and he offers him a job as his private secretary.Frank accepts Mr. Randolph's offer, and he quickly becomes indispensable to his new employer. Frank is also a quick learner, and he soon learns everything there is to know about Mr. Randolph's business. One day, Mr. Randolph falls ill and is unable to attend to his business affairs. Frank steps up to the plate and takes over the business in Mr. Randolph's absence. Frank proves himself to be a capable and trustworthy businessman, and he is able to successfully manage Mr. Randolph's business until Mr. Randolph is able to return to work.When Mr. Randolph recovers from his illness, he is so grateful to Frank for his help that he offers him a partnership in his business. Frank accepts the offer, and he and Mr. Randolph become successful business partners. Frank eventually falls in love with Mr. Randolph's daughter, Alice, and they are married. Frank and Alice live happily ever after, and Frank is able to achieve the American Dream of success and prosperity through his hard work, honesty, and courage.
