Bram Stoker tells the tale of the legendary nosferatu, the demonic Vampire, Count Dracula, in this classic novel of horror and mystery. Summary of the Book A young solicitor named Jonathan Harker is sent to Transylvania to discuss business with a count, the reclusive Dracula. On his way to the Count’s castle, he is warned of strange occurrences near the castle grounds, but he ignores these warnings and ventures on. He stays over at the castle, taken in by Dracula’s gracious manners. Soon, he realizes that he is a prisoner there, for the Count has no intention of letting him leave. He wanders the castle against the Count’s instructions, only to run into three female vampires. Dracula rescues Harker from the vampires and then leaves him in the castle to journey to England. He learns of Harker’s fiancé, the lovely Mina Murray and her friend, Lucy Westenra, and decides to entice the latter to his own end. Soon, the young girl falls prey to Dracula’s seduction and he bites her neck, turning her into the nightmarish creature that he himself is. The household soon discovers the disastrous changes in Lucy’s behavior and they invite Abraham Van Helsing to help investigate the matter. Helsing quickly realizes that the worst has come to pass: a vampire is on the loose, and they must stop him at any cost before more lives are put at stake. About Bram Stoker Abraham “Bram” Stoker was an Irish novelist and the personal assistant of the actor Henry Irving.
