This book compiles the experiences of different institutions in conducting capacity building exercises for elected representatives of local governance in different states of India, with special focus on Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Haryana. Examining the training needs of Panchayat leaders in terms of infrastructure, resources and materials, the contributors highlight the training models of PRIA, the Hunger Project, the UNDP and the NIRD.
