The book brings together my papers on economic thought, development planning, management in development, poverty alleviation, development and environment and world economic order. All these themes are of major contemporary significance particularly to us in the developing countries. Starting with the assessment of competing of economic ideologies, the book takes up an analysis of major issues of development planning both at the macro and micro level. The essays that follow relate development to environment which has become the most important theme as we reach the end of the century. The book concludes with reflections on the world economic order which have not lost their significance even in the context of the new GATT arrangement which have been accepted by 125 countries of the world.
