Paleography is the study of the development of writing. Very often the history of a language is interlinked with the history of the area where that writing has developed. In this book the author has attempted to trace the origin to South Indian languages with a double object in mind: the first is to trace the gradual developing of writing using documents that have a date and then to date undated documents using the formerly derived data. He has also give a chronological series of alphabets traced from the impressions of the original documents. The book has 30 charts and impressions of engraving to support the thesis.
