Eleven Minutes (Hindi) is the story of a young Brazilian woman, Maria, who relocates to Geneva and begins working as a prostitute. It is a poignant tale of self-discovery, true love, and sacred sex. Summary Of The Book Maria, traumatized by her previous unsuccessful forays into love, comes to the conclusion that to love is to suffer. She relocates from a village in Brazil to Geneva, Switzerland, hoping to attract fame and fortune by modelling. However, when the harshness of reality strikes her, she realises her dreams are moot. Despair and dwindling savings lead her to accept 1000 Francs from an Arab man, in return for a night of sexual favours. Tempted by the relatively easy source of considerable money, she begins working in a brothel in Geneva’s premier red-light district, Rue de Berne. At the brothel, she makes a few friends that teach her the tricks of the trade. She flourishes at her new job, carefully keeping her emotions at bay with clients. Over time, she becomes a professional. Not only is she adept at her job, but she is capable of evoking a feeling of trust and camaraderie with her clients. They open up to her and discuss their problems with her on a frequent basis. Her notions about love are disrupted the day she meets Ralf, a young painter. He claims to see her ‘inner light’, and she begins to fall in love with him. Soon, she has to make a choice, true love and sacred sex, or her dark latent fantasies. Eleven Minutes (Hindi) is a bold novel that discusses the true and sacred nature of sex, and was originally released in 2003 in Portuguese. It has been translated into numerous foreign languages ever since. About Paulo Coelho Paulo Coelho, born in 1947, is an award winning Brazilian author and novelist. His written works include novels like The Alchemist, The Winner Stands Alone, The Valkyries, Veronika Decides To Die, The Zahir and Aleph. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Coelho attempted to pursue a career as a writer from a young age. However, owing to parental opposition, he decided to obtain a degree in law. He dropped out after a year, and became a songwriter after moving back to Brazil. He dabbled in acting, theatre direction and journalism for a while before deciding to become a full-time writer in 1986. His books have sold worldwide, and have been translated into over eighty languages.
