Zari, also known as Jari, is a metallic thread wrapped on a thin cotton thread without any breakage. Zari work originated in India and have been in existence since the Mughal Era. Traditionally zari thread was formed from real gold and silver but now they are made of cotton thread that is wrapped with metallic threads which can be plated in any color. These threads can be used with Machine and Hand Embroidery for Haute Couture embroidery on fabrics.
