Durbin currently holds the position of a professor in the Department of Physics at Purdue University, College of Science. He received a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Chicago (1976). Following that, he earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in Physics from the University of Illinois, Urbana. Durbin is also affiliated with the American Physical Society and the Advanced Photo Source Users Organization. In the year 1987, he was presented with the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award.
