He has served as a teacher for over three decades and was also the Head of Department of Pathology at Kasturba Medical College for five decades. Nayak has published over 70 papers in several international and national journals, and he is also a reviewer of articles for Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. He has served as a project officer for Development of Cancer Atlas in India, and also as a member of the editorial committee of the South Asian edition of British Medical Journal. Sharada Rai is a well known hematologist. Rai obtained her post graduation degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. She has over 14 years of experience teaching various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Many of her papers have been published in various international and national journals, and she has also assisted in many Indian Council of Medical Research short-term projects. Astha Gupta completed her graduation and postgraduation from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.
