The  Famous Five: Five On a Treasure Island is the first book in the children’s adventure series The Famous Five, in which Enid Blyton recites the experiences of five characters who attempt to solve a mystery surrounding Kirrin Island! Summary Of The Book In the first book of the series The Famous Five, readers are introduced to Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and Timothy, who are the main characters of the book. Their adventures begin when Julian, Dick, and Anne are required to spend their summer holidays with their cousin Georgina. While going to the beach one day, Georgina also known as George, reveals to the group the existence of an island that is owned by her family. When a thunderstorm suddenly resurfaces an old shipwreck, the group finds a black box. The discovery of this box catapults readers further into the plot. After a map is discovered in the box, the group becomes determined to follow the map’s directions in the hope that they would find treasure. But alas, as in all great adventures, the journey to the island with the treasure is interrupted by several setbacks. Even though the mystery of the map is solved, and all is well that ends well, readers will be pleasantly surprised by the little twists and turns of the plot. Gerald Landau directed an eight part adaptation of this book in 1957.
