Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell is a novel about first love and a girl’s adorable obsession for fan fiction. Summary of the Book Cath is the female protagonist in the book who is an ardent admirer of the Simon Snow books since she was a little girl. She was always a part of Simon Snow forums and writing fan fiction endlessly. Cath and her twin sister Wren outfitted up as the characters from the book for the movie first showings as well. But when they start going to college, Wren grows out the fascination and let go of Cath’s company as roommates. She is left alone. She meets new people through her new roommate. She is also concerned about a fragile father who has also not used to being alone, as her mother has left them. How would this affect Cath’s life? What would happen to the fan girl, for whom, being a fan is about existence and not just a part of it? Fangirl was chosen as one of the best young adult fiction of the year by The New York Times in 2013. About the Author Rainbow Rowell is an American writer who writes contemporary fiction about and for teenagers and adults. She has also authored the books Landline, Attachments and Eleanor & Park. Her works have been in the Topped LibraryRead’s first favourite list, Indigo Book, Top 10 Books of the Year, Amazon Editors’ Top 20 Teen and Young Adult Books of the Year among other such lists.
