She then became a journalist for one of the leading newspapers in India, during which time she falls in love with Abir, the editor of the newspaper. She also finds Tarun, aka TT, highly attractive. After a series of events revolving around a foiled drug abuse story among Bollywood celebs, Piya had to make a choice between Abir and her career. With time, Piya moves on and marries an affluent artist, named David Cicconi in New York, who helps her to liberate herself, and become a highly successful author.
