Once upon a time, long, long ago, an old man lived with an old woman and his two children from his first wife. The children, a boy and a girl, were hated by their stepmother and beaten and starved by her.The old woman was known throughout the neighbouring villages for being as clever as she was wicked and cruel. The old woman hated the children and decided to finally get rid of them once and for all.
