Burns is presently the adjunct professor emeritus at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. He completed his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine in 1970 and his residency training in Psychiatry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974. He was awarded the Outstanding Contributions Award by the National Association of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapists in 2002. Aaron T. Beck is a renowned American psychiatrist and is widely known as the father of cognitive therapy. He has written as many as 540 articles and over twenty books on the various aspects of human psychology.
