About The Book: This book consists of two volumes, the first volume delves into the history of the Deccan region in southern India, tracing changes in its boundaries due to the possessions of adjacent rulers. It explores the traditional origins of the Deccan and its establishment as a capital in Dowlutabad, along with instances of rebellions and the eventual sovereignty of the Deccan. In the second volume, the narrative continues from the decline of the Golconda and Beejapore monarchies, which were gradually absorbed by the Mogul or Dhely (Delhi) emperors up to Shaw Jehaun's reign (Shan Jahan). The focus then shifts to Aurungzebe, Shaw Jehaun's son, who played a pivotal role in dissolving these monarchies and expanding Mogul dominions in the Deccan. This disrupted the regional balance of power and set the stage for the rise of new states, ultimately challenging the Timurid dynasty's rule in Hindoostan.
