About Howard Gardner Howard Gardner is an author and an American developmental psychologist among many other things. As an author, he has written more than twenty books which have been translated into thirty languages, but is most famous for the book Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences won him the Prince of Asturias Award 2011 in Social Sciences. Besides Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Howard Gardner has also authored Changing Minds, Extraordinary Minds and many other books. Born on July 11, 1943 to of Ralph Gardner and Hilde Weilheimer, Gardner presently teaches at the Harvard University as the John H. and Elisabeth A. Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education. Besides this, he is also Senior Director of Harvard Project Zero and the co-director of the GoodWork Project since 1955. Howard Gardner is married to Ellen Winner and together they have a son, Benjamin. He also has three other children, Kerith, Jay, and Andrew from a previous marriage. Gardner has been quoted calling himself ‘a studious child who gained much pleasure from playing the piano.’ For his contributions, Gardner has received many awards including, the MacArthur Prize Fellowship and the University of Louisville Grawemeyer Award in Education. He also is the recipient of many honorary degrees conferred upon him by universities and colleges across the globe.
