Part comic book and part novel, in Flora and Ulysses, a young girl must guide a super-powered squirrel in fighting for truth, justice and the squirrel way. Summary of the Book What happens when a timid squirrel is sucked up into the mystic world inside a Ulysses Super-Suction, Multi-Terrain 2000X vacuum cleaner? Not much except gaining the ability to leap over tall buildings in a single bound, the strength to make it more powerful than a locomotive and the speed to make it faster than a speeding bullet. That is what happens to a squirrel now dubbed Ulysses by his caretaker, a young girl called Flora. Convinced that the poetic Ulysses is a superhero, though quite an unusual type, and that he has a duty towards the country: he must stop his arch-nemesis. The only problem is he doesn't have one yet. Melding detailed illustrations and comic panels, this book speaks out to the child in all of us, incorporating a unique set of characters and wordplay that introduces children to a wonderful world of language. About the Authors Kate DiCamillo is an American novelist and children's writer. Best known for Because of Winn-Dixie, a Newbery Honor Book which was adapted into a feature family film, DiCamillo has also written: The Tales of Desperaux, The Tiger Rising, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and The Magician’s Elephant. K. G. Campbell is a children's writer and illustrator. He is known for Lester’s Dreadful Sweaters, which won him the 2013 Golden Kite Award for best picture book illustration.
