Bereaved by the death of their parents, five sisters live in a seasidevilla-growing up together, sharing their grief, experiences, andlove. Oldest daughter Charlie struggles to care for her sisters in thewake of the accident that took their parents, while each of the younger sistersnarrates a volume of the series. Each girl has her own personality and point ofview, and reflects some aspect of ourselves back to us: Enid, age 9, isoutgoing, with a great sense of humor; Hortense, age 11, is shy and likes tobe alone; Bettina, age 14, is good-hearted but temperamental; Genevieve,age 16, is passionate about cooking and boxing. This, the first volume,is narrated by youngest sister Enid. A free spirit, she enjoys wandering aloneand talking to animals and anything she meets. Her best friend Gulliver is, likeher, offbeat and creative. When Enid begins hearing ghost-like screams, the twofriends embark on a scary adventure. These sisters are not perfect.
