One of the darkest and bleakest comic book accounts known today comes alive in The Hard Goodbye, the first volume of Frank Miller’s Sin City series of graphic novel. Summary of the Book Marv is in a lousy room in a lousy part of a lousy town. He doesn’t care, of course. The only thing he’s concerned about is the angel in the room, the charming girl Goldie who approached him in Kadie’s Bar. However, the night is cut short when Marv awakes to find Goldie dead, barely three hours later. The police are on the scene before he can so much as figure out what happened, and Marv realizes that someone has tried to frame him. He knew that Basin City was trouble. The hot and arid air and the biannual downpour were only few of the many things that gave this hellhole its real name. The police are closer to paramilitary SWAT forces than beat cops and there are more criminals than victims in the city. One day, people would forget Basin City’s name and only remember the alternate moniker it wore like a second skin: Sin City.
