An experienced teacher, he has also served as Director of Research, Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and as a Visiting Professor at the School of Accountancy, Rutgers University, New Brunswick. An accomplished accountant, Dr. Banerjee has also served as the President of the Indian Accounting Association and the Vice President of the International Association for Accounting Education and Research. He also works as the editor of the Indian Accounting Review and has authored many books for accountancy and finance students.
