The metal cutting processes and machine tools have been steadily developing over past several years and it is need of the hour that the material of "Fundamentals of Metal Cutting and Machine Tools" be updated. The Chapter 1 has been rewritten in order to apprise the students of the subject become aware of the latest developments.For computerizing the subject for problem solving as well as for visualizing the effect of variation in a specific parameter on the whole process a new Chapter 17 has been added in 3rd edition. The chapter is entitled "Data Visualization and Problem Solving". The chapter comprises several programs developed by the first author. About 50% of these programs compute the results for several problems described at end of other chapters plus new problems. The other fifty percent of programs investigate the effect of variation of important parameter on the processes so that their optimum values can be selected. Such an analysis gives an insight and a feeling of mastery of the process. The programming language chosen for Chapter 17 is Python for following advantages.
