The seeds can be sown as soon as you like. Have a tray or pot of compost ready and sprinkle the seeds on top. Cover them with a thin layer of compost and then about half an inch of fine grit. When to Sow (outdoors): August, September, October, November Sow into an open cold frame in autumn. Sow seed thinly onto moist, well-drained seed compost. Just cover seed with a sprinkling of soil and add 10mm of fine grit. Place in an open frame or a sheltered spot in the garden. Allow natural winter cold to offer ideal conditions for germination to occur in late winter as the weather warms. Allow to grow on in the pot.
