Gandhi: My Life is My Message is a book that tries to understand the man behind the national leader figure, from his birth in a small coastal town to his unfortunate assassination. Summary of the Book The world recognized Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation - a nation with such diversity and complexities and yet dynamic and wondrous – India. Mohandas was a humble lawyer by profession, who went on to lead an entire massive nation like India during the freedom struggle. He forsook personal ambitions and contentment and fought against the British Raj. His idea of nonviolence swept the entire nation and the world with awe, and the freedom movement saw a man whose one call could get the whole countrymen to their feet, regardless of region, religion and other differences. Gandhi never even raised his voice while fighting against the British, but tried to spread the message of liberation, love, peace and freedom. He was not only a leader but also a profound thinker, philosopher, poet and a great human being. Such a man was tragically murdered just a few months after the nation became independent.
