Geetanjali (Hindi) is a collection of poems written by Rabindranath Tagore. Originally penned down in Bengali, his works have been translated into Hindi. Summary Of The Book Geetanjali (Hindi) is a translation of the original Bengali collection of poems that was published in 1910. The word Geetanjali comes from two words, “geet” which means song, and “anjali” which means offering. This gives the title the meaning, an offering of songs. Geetanjali (Hindi) contains over a hundred poems that are based on a wide range of topics. The poet expresses his hopes of pre-independent India’s future, admires nature’s beauty, shows his love for God, and reflects on relationships with people. Each poem in this book is spiritual in nature, and makes readers contemplate on their own being. Though each poem is different from the next, all of them reveal Tagore’s unshaken devotion to God, and his sufferings after losing his family members. Geetanjali (Hindi) also contains the extremely popular and inspiring poem, Where The Mind Is Without Fear. In some pieces, Tagore address the Lord as his friend, his father, his king, and his master. Every line of every poem in this masterpiece is deep and meaningful. The beauty of Tagore’s work lies in the fact that each reader may derive a different meaning from the same poetic words.
