This book deals with the Gender, Society and Development in the context of North East India. It discusses about the gender issue, gender discrimination, etc. Even though the societies in the state of Meghalaya like Khasi and Garo are matrimonial, but women faces discrimination in their day to day lives. Women are not allowed to participate in decision making, village meetings and so on.
