This report assesses global financial market developments and potential systemic weaknesses, in order to help promote global financial stability, and sustained economic growth. This issue draws, in part, on a series of informal discussions with a range of organisations including commercial and investment banks, insurance companies and pension funds, as well as regulatory authorities, in many countries; and it is based on information available up to February 10, 2006. Topics discussed include: cyclical challenges facing financial markets; the influence of credit derivative and structured credit markets on financial stability; and structural changes in emerging market sovereign debt.
