Gravity’s Rainbow is a postmodern classic by Thomas Pynchon, set in Europe during the end of the Second World War. Summary of the Book As the Second World War loomed to a close, the German military bombarded Europe with V-2 rockets. The British Intelligence make a startling discovery: the rockets are landing on those locations pinpointed by the sexual conquests of a Lieutenant Tyrone Slothrop, U.S. Army. This leads Slothrop on an investigation across Europe, to try and stop the Germans before they have any chance of winning the war. Comic and dark in its tones, this book is a classic tale of war and the inescapable stupidity of men trying to kill other men.
