Sustainability and preservation of environment are recognized as overriding imperatives to protect our planet from the various hazards inflicted on it by mankind. Climate change and environmental damages are the most complicated issues that world is facing in the current scenario. So, there is global surge to save the planet Earth. As financial institutions, banks are responsible for financing the economic and developmental activities of the nation. Thus, banking organizations can play a major role in promoting environmentally sustainable and socially responsible investments. The aim of green banking is to provide good environmental and social business practices. Green banking practices can be adopted across all levels of the organization such as the HR policies, facilities offered, products, services and delivery channels. The proposed work is an outcome of a thesis on Green Banking, which covers a detailed analysis of green banking practices in selected banks belonging to Nationalised, Scheduled and New Generation categories in the state of Kerala. The perception of employees about the green banking systems and the impact of green banking on employees of these banks have also been covered in this work. Even though the primary data was restricted to Kerala alone, the book covers a broad contextualization of the green banking canvass of India across a wider array of banking organisations. The study was descriptive and empirical in nature where secondary and primary data were used. Total population of employees belonging to the three banks comes about 10447 and the sample size was calculated as 392. Some of the statistical tools used for the primary analysis were: Frequency and Descriptive Analysis, Correlation analysis, Regression Analysis, t-test and ANOVA. Structural Equation Modeling popularly known as SEM analysis was employed to test the proposed model using Amos version 20. A detailed description of the data and findings were included in different chapters. The concluding chapter of the book covers practical suggestions for improving green banking practices for the greater advantage of business and employees. This work would be of great interest to both academicians and practitioners across the world as green banking and sustainability issues are getting wider attention. The chapters are rewritten to enhance readability. The thesis has been edited with a view to gain attention of all kinds of readers. The authors have taken special care to minimize the jargons and technical terms in this work.
